Thimphu, Paro and Punakha Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Thimphu Tshechu / Fixed Departure
Your first day travelling to Bhutan by Druk Airways is going to be fascinating with the first glance over the Himalayas. Upon arrival at Paro International airport, you will be greeted by our representative and after that you will be transferred to Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan. It would take about one and half hours time.
On the way, you will come across Tachok Temple located at the picturesque hill.

HIGHLIGHTS
• Tachok Temple &Traditional Suspension bridge:
It is located on a picturesque landscape of the mountain. It was built in 16th century by the Tibetan saint Thangtong Gyalpo and you could also see the unique iron suspension bridge built by same person down the valley.
• Capital city:
City of Gross National Happiness is nestled in the heart of Mother Nature, surrounded by pine trees, mountains and the endless paddy field.
• Amazing Buddha statue:
177ft tall of Buddha Statue is reputed as the largest Shakyamuni Buddha in the world. It is located on the ridge of mountain overlooking the capital city, Thimphu. Overnight in Thimphu
Day 2
Thimphu Tshechu / Fixed Departure
Whole day, you will be exploring and spending time at the festival ground. Overnight stay will be at hotel in Thimphu
Day 3
Thimphu Tshechu / Fixed Departure
Day 3, you will continue witnessing tshechu and at the same time will explore and mingle with people in crowd. Latter you will go for sightseeing at interior Tashi Chodzong and the Ludrong Garden situated below Dzong and other.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Memorial Chorten:
It is the Iconic figure of Thimphu valley. The stupa was built in 1974 as a memorial for the third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and also it is dedicated for the World Peace. You will find mostly the elderly Bhutanese people circumambulating the Chorten throughout the day.
• Changangkha Lhakhang:
This traditional Bhutanese temple is perched like a fortress on a ridge above Thimphu City with pilgrim activity. It was established in 12th century by the saint, Lama Phajo Drugom Zhipo from Tibet.
• Takin animal:
It is a unique looking animal. According to Bhutanese folklore, this incredible animal was created by the famous Buddhist master, Lam Drukpa Kuenlay affectionately known as ‘The Divine Madman’. Takin was given life when he attached a goat’s skull to the skeleton of a cow. It is also the National Animal of Bhutan.
• Folk Heritage Museum:
The heritage museum portrays the complete Bhutanese way of living, date back to 100 years ago. A typical Bhutanese house contains unique Bhutanese household things preserved intact like old time living style. It is made accessible to guests from outside world, without one necessarily need to travel to far flung villages to see Bhutan.
• Textile Museum:
It houses both ancient and the modern textiles displaying the vibrant culture and tradition of Bhutan. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 4
Thimphu Tshechu / Fixed Departure
Driving uphill will take you to Dochu la pass. It is located at an altitude of 3100 meters above sea label. You can stop for tea and enjoy the panoramic view of mountain ranges on 360 degree view point.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Dochu La Pass:
It is one of the most loved passes that have 360-degree View point, blessed with 108 stupas built against the stunning panoramic view of Himalayas in the distance. Further driving down hill will reach at Chimi Lhakhang.
• Chimi Lhakhang: (1455-1529):
The temple popularly known as Chimi Lhakhang is associated with Lam Drukpa Kuenlay or the Devine Mad-man whose esoteric method of spreading Buddhism continues to be revered even today. Amongst others, Drukpa Kuenlay is also greatly associated with the worship of Phallus made out of wood. It is believed that the childless couple who intend to have child can have conceived right after their visit. Chimi Lhakhang is considered as a miracle temple. It draws large number of tourists and locals every day.
• Punakha Dzong:
It is one of the magnificent Dzongs (fortress) surrounded by Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. This Dzong replicates the Majestic Ship being floated on these rivers.
• Suspension Bridge:
It is one of the longest swinging bridges (160m) ever built in the country. It is the must visit sight in the Punakha valley. Evening you will have leisure time to move around Khuru town. Overnight stay at the hotel in Punakha.
Day 5
Thimphu Tshechu / Fixed Departure
Morning after breakfast, you will drive towards Paro via Dochu La pass again. There will be few visits on the way and at Paro.

HIGHLIGHTS
• Royal Botanical Garden (Garden of Rhododendron flowers) :
Going back via Dochu La, you will be visiting the Royal Botanical Park at lamperi. Park is famous for 46- species of Rhododendron flowers, Lake and end numbers of flora and fauna.
• Druk Wangyel Monastery:
It is the only of its kind in the country with elaborate paintings depicting lineage of the present monarchy and their visionary works.
• Rinpung Dzong:
It is a beautiful Dzong on the bank of Pa Chu River and believed that it was built on a heap of jewel. The figure is adorned with traditional wooden bridge on foreground and offer as the best spot for photography.
Evening will have Leisure time to go around Paro bazaar.

Day 6
Thimphu Tshechu / Fixed Departure
HIGHLIGHTS
• Taktsang :
The most awaited sight, Taktsang Monastery is the wondrous sightseeing of the entire tours. The temple, popularly known as the “Tiger’s Nest” is perched on the side of the cliff at a height of 900m above the Paro valley.
One can be recommended to have lunch served from Taktsang cafeteria because it is worth having at this strategic hilltop facing the entire cliff and the monastery. After lunch, if time permits, you will explore the following places.
• Paro National Museum:
The Museum, that once up-on a time served as watchtower is now displays the finest Bhutanese arts and Crafts, traditional costumes, armor, weaponry and exhibition on Bhutan bio-diversity.
• Drugyal Dzong:
It was built in 1649 to commemorate the victory of Bhutanese over the allied Tibetan- Mongolian forces. The Dzong which served as defense fortress is said to have housed the finest armory in the country.
Evening you will have leisure time to move around bazaar.
• Hot stone bath: (evening):
In conclusion, we highly recommend experiencing the best of Bhutanese traditional Hot Stone Bath for revitalization after days of tiring treks and tours. Your aches and pains will just melt away as you relax in and emerge with renewed vigor and vitality.
Overnight you will halt at hotel in Paro.
Day 7
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro International airport and bid farewell by our representatives.
