Thimphu, Paro and Trongsa Tour Overview

This festival performs unique as compared to any other festivals in Bhutan. It is performed at Jambay Lhakhang, 8th century monastery. This festival highlights several exciting dances, the fire ceremony, Mewang, is a unique dance performed under flames where crowds walk through a gate of huge fireworks as a means to drive away evil spirits. When night falls, we gather amongst the locals to witness the Tercham which translates to ‘Treasure Dance’. This dance is the main feature of the festival where masked dancers dance naked at the courtyard of the monastery to purify sins and bode a good harvest.

Day 1

Arrival in Paro – Thimphu / ALT -2320m

Excursion in Thimphu City

• Centenary farmer’s market is the largest domestic market in Bhutan. The farmers from all regions bring their farm products with wide assortment of fresh and organic produce to sell.
• Takin Preserve located in Motithang Thimphu is the national animal of Bhutan. It is worthwhile taking the time to see these oddball mammals.

Day 3

Thimphu to Trongsa / ALT 2300

Highlights:
• We can able to catch view of Towering Wangdue Dzong on the way.
• Numerous rural and urban settlements.
• Chendep ji Chorten that reflects image of Boudhanath chorten in Nepal.
• Trongsa Dzong, an ancestral home of the Royal family built in 1648.

Day 4

Trongsa to Bumthang /ALT 2800

• Ta Dzong, the towering view for Trongsa Dzong has the rich heritage museum.
• Jakar Dzong built in 1549 critically divides the western and the eastern region of the country. It has lot more to say about its significance

• Mebar Tsho, (Burning Lake): it is a sacred lake and it is believed that Terton Pema Lingpa discovered religious treasures from this lake in late 15th century.

Bumthang to Paro / Via Domestic flight

Hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest)

The last itinerary of the tour, an adventurous hike to Taktsang is the most fulfilling and rewarding. The captivating scene of Taktsang monastery located on sheer cliff, height of 900m above ground level is the most wondrous in Bhutan.

• GROUP SIZE DISCOUNT of 50% on minimum daily package shall be given to one person in a group of 11 people. 100% discount shall be given to one member in a group exceeding 16 persons.
• Balance payment: The remaining payment or 100% payment must be made one week prior to the arrival date or on the day of arrival in Bhutan.
